The Creative Awards 2016, in association with WEBPRINTER, is set to showcase South Africa’s innovative design talent like never before.

This month marks the launch of South Africa’s most highly anticipated design competition: the Creative Awards 2016 proudly sponsored by WEBPRINTER, a national printing company that has invested in providing a visible platform for up and coming design talent.

“The Creative Awards 2016 will showcase South Africa’s unique, innovative design talent where entrants will stand a chance to win fantastic prizes for themselves and the colleges they represent,” says WEBPRINTER’S CEO Peter Kohnert.

The winning designer will walk away with a R20, 000 cash prize and their winning designed poster, fitting this year’s “SAVE WATER” theme, will be distributed to national organisations and municipalities.

The visual art/design college that the winning designer represents will also win a top-of-the-line Apple iMac computer valued at R27, 000. Second and third runners-up will win R10, 000 and R5, 000 respectively.

To enter, students will need to visit the official competition website for a full design brief and upload their innovative design before the closing date, 7 November 2016. The Creative Awards competition is open to any visual art or design student currently enrolled in an accredited course at a recognised South African college, university, technikon or art school.

From mid-November, friends and family of the entrants (including members of the general public) will be able to vote for up to 10 of their favourite designs during the voting phase of the competition.

The winner will be announced at the beginning of December.

Entrants are required to demonstrate their design skill in the following ways:

  • A poster that inspires people to save water and use it wisely
  • Simplicity, creativity and design flair
  • An innovative “think outside the box” approach

“This year’s Creative Awards promises to showcase the very best of South Africa’s visual art and graphic design talent. We are very excited to give art and design students the opportunity to get their work seen by the design community and the general public, and also be rewarded for it,” says Kohnert.
