An exciting addition to the 2013 Open Book Festival programme, Open Book Comics Fest, will run on the 7th and 8th of September at the Homecoming Centre. The public has a marketplace of over 40 tables as well as two days of events featuring some of the most exciting comic book artists and writers.
The marketplace is curated by Moray Rhoda, a Cape Town-based illustrator who has been involved in the local comic scene for over a decade. His passion for illustration and design means that he is including workshops such as the Comics Fest Masterclass with Mustashrik Mahbub, a free event for professional (or of a proficient standard) artists which is part of the Comics Fest Workshop programme which runs on the 9th and 10th September from Central Library. Other workshops will cover production of webcomics, writing for comics and digital and print publishing.
